It’s easy to look back now and see the 1918 Migratory Bird Treaty Act as a law that saved waterfowl, but the truth is, waterfowlers needed it just as much as the birds did. Before the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, there were no limits, no seasons, no guarantee that ducks would return next year. Market hunting was emptying the skies, and if nothing changed, waterfowling as we know it would have disappeared.

That law didn’t just protect the birds, it protected the future of hunting and laid the foundation for everything we stand by today, conservation, ethics, and the understanding that if we take care of the resource, it will take care of us.
